From New York to Charlotte: What I’ve Been Up To Lately

If you’ve been following along on Instagram or TikTok, you’ve probably noticed a little more runway coverage, more interviews, and a lot of behind-the-scenes moments lately. September was a busy month for me, and I wanted to slow down for a moment and share what I’ve been working on—and why it means so much to me.
A weekend at New York Fashion Week
In September, I traveled to New York for Fashion Week. It was a short trip, but I fit in two shows, two pop-ups, and plenty of filming along the way.
There’s something special about being surrounded by people who express themselves through fashion. I loved seeing the collections, watching how people styled their outfits, and taking in the energy of the city. I also visited the Walmart fashion pop-up and shared some of that experience with you.
Of course, the videos only show a small part of the experience. Behind them were travel plans, outfit changes, filming, editing, and figuring out where I needed to be next. I was doing it with my phone, tripod, and microphone, learning as I went.
I came home tired, inspired, and excited to keep going.
Finding community at Charlotte Fashion Week
Shortly after New York, I had the opportunity to cover Charlotte Fashion Week with Charlotte Seen. Being invited to cover the week gave me a chance to spend more time with the people who make these shows happen.
I filmed runway collections, captured backstage moments, and interviewed designers and members of the fashion community. One of the highlights was sitting down with Rita Miles to talk about Charlotte Seen, her vision, and the platform she has built for designers.
Throughout the week, I got to hear directly from creatives about their collections, their inspirations, and what they hope people feel when they see their work. Those conversations have become one of my favorite parts of creating content.
A runway look catches your attention, but hearing the designer explain the thought behind it gives you a whole new appreciation for what you’re seeing.
I also wanted to shine a light on the people working beyond the runway: the beauty teams, models, organizers, and everyone helping bring the experience together. There is so much work behind every show, and I’m grateful I got to share some of it.
Continuing the conversations
More recently, I also captured behind-the-scenes coverage at the Beatles-inspired, 1960s-themed FabFest at the Knight Theater. It was another opportunity to see fashion connect with music, performance, and the local creative community.
These experiences have made me want to keep asking questions, meeting people, and sharing the stories behind their work.
What this means for Viva La Stefy
Petite style will always be part of my page. I still love helping women understand proportions, find pieces that work for them, and feel confident getting dressed.
Alongside that, I’m building a space where we can learn more about fashion together—from fabrics and garment construction to designers, fashion history, and the ideas behind a collection.
My hope is that you can come to my page for outfit inspiration and leave having learned something, too. Maybe you discover a designer you hadn’t heard of, understand a detail you’ve never noticed, or see a familiar style differently.
As a mom of two, a business owner, and a creator, making room for this has taken effort. There have been late nights editing and moments when I’ve had to push myself to walk up, introduce myself, and ask for the interview. I’m proud of myself for doing it.
Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me and trusted me to share their work. And thank you to those of you watching, commenting, and following along.
I’m still learning, but I’m excited about what I’m building—and happy to bring you with me.
With love,
Stefany
